____India is one of the fastest growing economies in the world, and it has taken significant strides in improving the health of its citizens over the past few decades. For instance, average life expectancy has risen from 62 years in 2000 to 68.5 years in 2016. The number of under-5 deaths is coming down steadily — from 91 per thousand in 2000 to 39 in 2017.
Despite this significant improvement in life expectancy and child mortality rates, vast swathes of the country’s population are still vulnerable and deprived of access to good healthcare. Socioeconomic status, geography and gender are contributory
We aim to effectively tap the artistic and creative goldmines of India to efficiently transform the artisan community to achieve Self-reliance and Success. We target to be the representative of the 200 million people who depend on crafts for their livelihoods. By providing services to enhance Individual job development, Employment Support and opportunities, we focus on combining knowledge, resources and innovation to open up the true potential of the handicrafts community. We intend to mobilise funds and support through crowd-fundings and special donations to ensure the empowerment of the underprivileged and the supply of basic provisions in needy shelter homes.
The number of Indian artisans has decreased by 30% over the last 30 years. Reviving the community that largely remains unmapped and unrecognised through support, technology, innovation, networks, markets and consumer insights requires tremendous cooperation and efforts. The task of gathering funds through crowd-funding/special donations to aid charity/care homes in their functioning is a challenging one. Empowering the underprivileged would be a test of time and requires resources and outreach. Nevertheless, we trust in our firm resolve and dedicated team to develop careers, communities and livelihoods.
Revive and reinvigorate the Indian handicrafts industries
Recognize and dignify traditional craftsmen and entrepreneurs
Help single entrepreneurs reach their true potential.
Support the needy through crowdfunding and donations in kind.
Project Sunflower aims to revive and revitalise the lost handicrafts of India by promoting and equipping the artisans in the handicrafts industry. Artisans are the backbone of our non-agricultural rural economy and officially account for about 7 million people. Yet, the contribution to GDP remains a mere 13% and 1.2 % to the world market share. Being a richly diverse and culturally rich country, we have been the spate of creativity and excellent craftsmanship.
The coming of the British and the subsequent events have led to a negative curve in self-sufficiency and creative dignity. We target to restore the creative wealth of the handicraft industry and thereby, provide reliable employment to millions of people. We propose to do the same through workshops that help them to learn new skills through skilled trainers and performance badges that improve their marketability and social standing.
Visit LinkThe traditional entrepreneurs and family businesses in the handicrafts sector suffer from a lack of technological know-how and marketing. They do not possess advanced manufacturing equipment or skills to increase their output and are easily prone to market gullibilities and cheating. We aim to equip them with the required knowledge and lead them to their path to success. Recognising and dignifying their profession by enabling them to achieve a great profit margin would help sustain the traditional craftsmen and also attract new entrepreneurs to the field. This would also help to stop the sad plight of the communities, whose youth are forced to seek other employment due to the lack of value of their traditional handicrafts. Lack of proper connection with the urban and global market and internal fragmentation reduce their income and lead to the giving up of their work. We aim to channelise their efforts through consistent and reliant means to foster and open up the great potentiality of the handicrafts industry.
Visit LinkWe target to promote and guide Single entrepreneurs to take up handicrafts and artworks as a feasible and profitable career option. Our studies show that most of the youth and seriously passionate individuals refrain from taking up this career due to social stigmas, invalidation and lack of sustaining gains. Opening up the potentiality of this sector and creating a 'New normal' becomes essential and urgent. We aim to build their public rapport and goodwill through training and directioning. We also encourage them to maintain professional social media handles and ensure good quality of their service.
Visit LinkWe focus on providing special assistance and donations in kind to charity by raising money through crowdfunding and special donations. It would benefit those organizations that had run out of funds and sponsors during the pandemic crisis. We also ensure that the required donations in kind or gift hampers reach the needy through our constant enquiry and feedback mechanism apart from direct supervision. These are especially helpful to avoid cash misappropriations and leakage. We also intend to extend such benefits to orphanages and care homes by providing basic essentials and supplementing tools for their empowerment.
